Eugene company helps International Medical Corps achieve Emergency Medical Team Type 1 provider status; First NGO worldwide to receive classification in both fixed and Mobile EMT Type 1
EUGENE/ JUNE 6, 2021 – The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified humanitarian organization and first responder International Medical Corps (IMC) as an Emergency Medical Team (EMT) Type 1 provider, capable of deploying quickly and providing medical services in response to a disaster anywhere in the world.
Helping IMC achieve EMT Type 1 status was the Eugene-based company Deployed Logix (DLX). Nearly 20 DLX shelters, along with HVACs, lighting, medical beds, and other equipment were used for the EMT Type 1 verification, held June 2-4 at the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX).
IMC deployed a Fixed EMT Type 1, which enables staff to treat at least 100 patients per day, as well as a Mobile EMT Type 1, which lets staff treat a minimum of 50 patients per day.
Upon classification by the WHO, IMC became the only non-governmental organization (NGO) in the world to offer both Fixed and Mobile EMT Type 1 capabilities. It is the first NGO in the U.S. to offer Fixed EMT Type 1 capability and the second NGO in the U.S. to offer Mobile EMT Type 1 capability.
A year’s worth of planning went into this classification event, with DLX working with IMC on the logistics of the layout, the setup’s flow, which shelters to use, etc. Partnering for the EMT Type 1 event made perfect sense as DLX and IMC worked together for a handful of years prior to this project.
