For Immediate Release
June 28, 2026

Albany, Ore. – Over 130 high school students representing 17 counties, 28 schools, and 24 Oregon cities participated in a week-long disaster preparedness and workforce immersion program. Camp Ready2Respond goals were to help them develop practical skills in several career paths while reinforcing statewide emergency readiness.

Held at the Knife River Training Center in Albany, Oregon, the camp provided guided training in food service, construction, medical response, emergency operations, and public communications from educators and industry professionals during a simulated disaster exercise.

Deployed Logix participated on the first day of the operation, training students in shelter setup and initial deployment. The entire camp comprised 22 shelters, serving as registration, medical, dining facilities, and dormitories for the students and staff.

Over the course of the week, students constructed 10 wooden emergency shelters. The temporary housing units include four 8-by-8 shelters and six 8-by-12 shelters.

The camp is a joint effort involving Team Oregon Build, the Oregon Department of Human Services, Oregon Housing and Community Services, the Oregon Department of Education, the Oregon Department of Forestry, the Oregon Department of Emergency Management, and 14 additional partner organizations.
